![]() Ground up implies that you start anew, not with with a push start off Microsoft code. whatever the ratio is, until it's 100% clean original code, you can't make that claim that it's from the ground up. I'm disappointed that internal all digital HD will be locked to one modchip but i do understand the financial burden if it truly is not worth it for him to sell as standalone.Īs for the retail kernel being used, "some assets" is vague, and from what i've read it was a split of 70/30 or whatever according to LoveMhz. Lovemhz said that when the series ends he will open source it. I asked on discord if it would be then open sourced and the reply was straight forward. I just don't like that it gates one mod, but from what was said on discord is that the MCU is being bypassed in the new version and the old version parts are harder to come by to offer it any longer. Maybe I'm being too hopeful here, but I'm on the glass half full side of things now. The only one I can think of recently that's been priced lower is a Pluto IIx, but the GCDual of yesteryear was way more expensive. I feel like every other HDMI mod (remember, not including a modchip) comes in at a price equal to if not higher. Plus, how many other HDMI mods for old consoles can you find that come in at that price point. Also, Stellar will allow you to use the SD card to boot legacy BIOSes if you want to just like a regular modchip would, so you really don't lose any functionality but only gain Stellar specific features. ![]() Increasing the price to $140 and including Stellar instead isn't really much different. And if you think about it, it's been shipping with an OX already included since the beginning for $120. ![]() But I think there was just too much unreliability in some of the old way of doing things that it makes some sense to include the modchip. ![]() Selling the HD+ as a stand alone unit would be nice. I can see the argument for the HD+ from your side. ![]() We'll learn more as things become more available and details are provided. Even that was explained as being a temporary solution. That way, if you provide your own dumped kernel, then they won't have to ship or sell anything with MS registered trademarks. From what I understand, it currently only uses the retail kernel to extract some assets from it. ![]()
